Building a Strong Neighborhood Together

Don’t you think it was time for new letters?

This project is coming along for the neighborhood. We’ve been working hard on new letters. In the past few weeks the letters were cut, sanded, primed, painted, and now they’re being hung. The video shows how obvious the current letters have been decayed. They are practically falling apart. It’s a nice thing we have great residents in the neighborhood to take care of this main entrance. Thank you to Brandon, Rich, Orv, Sarah, and Ryan for their work. Others are welcome to pitch in because we’ll need to do some putty work and then re-painting once they are completely hung.

The evolution of our wall along Mather Field Road

What do you think? Do you remember in 2007 when our neighborhood painted this wall? Wasn’t the gray cinder block really ugly before we painted? And now the wall has been really spruced up by Leadership Rancho Cordova Class of 2010 (along with residents). Thank you Leadership Class for all of your hard work. We really benefited from your leadership in our community. Thank you for choosing such a visible and important wall to not only our neighborhood, but all of Rancho Cordova. What a tremendous project for everyone and it’s just in time for the California Capital Airshow too.

Pick a color for the wall on Mather Field Road

The time has come for us to vote on a wall color for the cinder block wall along Mather Field Road. Please let us know what you think of the attached photo. Your two cents matters greatly. There are three small squares painted on the wall right now and the attached photo captures the colors fairly well. Two of the colors are very light and one is dark, so let’s bat this around. Leadership Rancho Cordova has already stated they are very happy to come up with a medium color (maybe something darker than what is currently up right now, but lighter than the original “sound wall brown” color that has been up for two years).

What do you think?
p.s. Thank you to residents who worked so hard on this wall to prepare it for a final coat of paint. We originally planned to have our paint be the final coat, but then the color turned out to be very light.

Painting & Planting Success on Mather Field Road

We had a fantastic time of painting and planting today. Thank you to Leadership Rancho Cordova Class of 2010 and all the dedicated residents who came out to support this wonderful project. The corner planters are looking great and the wall is prepped to be completed this next week. As you may notice, the color is much lighter. What do you think of that? This color may end up serving as a primer or the color may be changed if the color doesn’t work (after viewing it when the corners are cut in). We shall see over this next week. Your opinion counts, so please let us know what you think via email or the e-Group.

Thank you again everyone for your commitment to our neighborhood. Thank you also to City Council candidate Wayne Hart for painting with us today.

Update: Wall Project on Mather Field Road

On Saturday, August 21st from 8-12pm we will get together as a neighborhood and paint the wall and plant new plants in the planter boxes on Croydon & Mather. We invite you to come out with us for however much of the time you’d like. Additionally, we’ll put a new fixed “T” up in the “Cordova Towne” lettering (only if someone steps forward to do make a new “T” – money can be provided). New paint will really help the wall look nice. We may only be doing a portion of the painting (taping and cutting along the edges of the brick pillars), but we’ll know more soon about that.

Please mark this date in your calendars. All ages are invited to come out to paritcipate. Also, if you have a green thumb and can give input on what type of plants to put in the planter boxes, we need serious help with that. Details will unfold soon. Let us know if you can make it through the “contact” page. Thanks.

Lastly, way to go Leadership Rancho Cordova!!! Thank you for spear-heading this project.
