Recap of the Community Safety Forum
Thank you to the 80-100 residents who came out to the Community Safety Forum on Tuesday. We had very civil and productive discussion. Overall the consensus was that the eastern brick pillar needs to come down quickly because it is a safety risk. Some residents feel a connection to the pillar as a point of historical reference, but the vast majority said the pillar very clearly needs to be removed. The one item that residents really debated on was whether or not a new sign has to go up in its place. Opinions were mixed on this point.
We will continue discussion about the eastern pillar as well as the western pillar (on the Carriage House parcel). There are many issues to kick around and really decide on as a community. Please continue to be a part of the conversation and get others involved too. No matter what, we need maximum community participation in the safety solutions surrounding Mills Park Drive as well as general safety issues in the White Rock Area. That is the only way our neighborhood can continue to grow stronger.
We will be in contact with everyone who attended last night’s meeting as well as those who signed up to be a part of the Mills Park Drive Pillar Committee. We plan to be in touch with everyone at some point next week to talk about the next steps in this process and how we can move forward together. Please be ready and available in very practical ways to help get word out about this process.
Thank you again everyone!!
A special thank you to Rancho Cordova City Hall for providing us meeting space. In addition to so many residents, thank you to the following for their attendance: RCPD Chief Doug Diamond, RCPD Crime Prevention Specialist Heidi Escamilla, four RCPD POP Officers, Councilmember Linda Budge, and representatives from Dan Lungren & Alyson Huber’s offices. Thank you also to The Folsom Cordova Community Partnership for supplying snacks (and so much support as always).
If you would like to get involved, please call Ryan at 916.595.3735 or Linda at 916.601.6539.
